REIDSVILLE, N.C. – ITG Brands LLC will halt production at its Reidsville cigarette manufacturing plant by Dec. 31, eliminating 110 jobs.

The Greensboro-based tobacco manufacturer announced last November that it would close the North Scales Street operation by April 2020.

ITG said at the time the 127-year-old plant would maintain production of former Commonwealth Brands cigarette products until the shift to the former Lorillard plant in Greensboro was completed.

ITG will begin shutting down operations on Dec. 19. 102 jobs will be eliminated Dec. 31, and the rest by the end of February.

Employees were told Thursday of the final plant-closing decision.
