(Danville, Va.) — Danville resident Darick Lamont Richardson, 18, has been charged with three felonies in connection with Wednesday’s shooting incident at GLH Johnson Elementary School.
Richardson is charged with discharging a firearm on school property; aid in concealing a stolen firearm; and with illegally possessing a firearm on school property.
Danville Police say he fired shots on the perimeter of the school grounds near a shelter area commonly used by the public. According to investigators, the gunfire was not directed at the school.
Danville’s 911 Center received a call around 3 p.m. Wednesday. The caller said a man was shooting at the school. The gunman was seen running along Melrose Avenue and officers arrested Richardson a few minutes later on Nor Dan Drive.
Richardson is currently in the Danville City jail under no bond pending his first court appearance.
The investigation is continuing.
