(Rockingham County, N.C.) — Rockingham County Sheriff’s Investigators believe a Reidsville teenager took his own life after wounding another 18-year-old.

Investigators say that Dylan Christian and his father came to 144 Clebourne Court Wednesday evening to speak to Noah Belton about ongoing problems between the two. Dylan exited the vehicle and was approaching the house when investigators believe Belton fired a blast from a shotgun, striking Dylan Christian. He got back into his car and fled the area.

Deputies located Dylan at his home and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Belton was found dead at his residence of what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Belton was a student at Rockingham County High School. School officials have been notified and grief counselors are available for students.
