(Danville, Va.) — Two more men have been charged in an early morning shooting outside Buffalo Wild Wings on Riverside Drive.
Ricus Shawmel Watkins, 25, and 30-year-old Akira Jammal Clark have been jailed in connection with the shootings that left two men hospitalized.
Watkins is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was arrested Thursday afternoon and is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
Clark is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and is also jailed without bond.
Police were called to the restaurant at 12:46 Thursday morning after receiving a report of shots fired. On arrival, they learned that two gunshot victims had been taken to SOVAH Health for treatment.
Both have been also charged in the incident. Danville Police say 27-year-old Joshua Lashawn Johnson and 31-year-old Maurice Hunt exchanged gunfire. Each was struck but both are expected to recover. At last report, both remain hospitalized.
The shootout stemmed from an altercation, but police aren’t sure what that fight was about.
Watkins and Clark were arrested without incident and both face firearms charges. They’re being held without bond. Johnson is charged with shooting into a vehicle. In 2009, he was convicted of shooting into an occupied vehicle and sentenced to more than a year in prison. He also has multiple drug convictions. Hunt is charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a felony.
