(Caswell County, N.C.) – All Caswell County schools will be closed Friday after a boil water advisory was issued by town officials in Yanceyville.
Students in Caswell County were sent home at noon Thursday and the decision was made to close again on Friday as Yanceyville officials examine results from lab tests following a water main break on Wall Street.
The town is advising people to boil all water or use bottled water. Water customers are also urged to conserve water whenever possible.
The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
Earlier, the town of Yanceyville said Caswell County had experienced periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system. That can potentially increase the risk for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
According to a note posted on the school district’s web site, employees at Barlett Yancey High School, Dillard, Oakwood, the Whitley Building and the Central Office will work with their principal or supervisor to determine an alternate Caswell County work location if working Friday.
