(Mooresville, N.C.) — Police in Mooresville, N.C. say a six-year veteran of their department was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop.
32-year-old Jordan Harris Sheldon was shot during a the traffic stop on West Plaza Drive. The shooter was later identified as 28-yaer-old Michael Aldana. Sheldon was transported from the scene but died from his injuries.
The Mooresville Police Chief said that he had been wearing a body camera at the time of the shooting but that it had not been turned on.
Aldana fled the scene but was later located in a nearby apartment. He was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Highway 150 remained shut down throughout the night as police investigated the shooting.
