(Franklin County, Va.) — A Franklin County accident left one person dead and two others injured. State Police say the two-vehicle crash happened around 11:45 Sunday morning on Route 122, one mile south of Route 634 in Franklin County.

A Toyota Yaris was traveling south on Route 122, when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Nissan Rogue head-on.

The driver of the Toyota, 55-year-old Michelle Marie Deacon, of Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deacon was wearing her seatbelt.

The Nissan was driven by 32-year-old Cherish Rice of Roseburg, Oregon. Rice and an adult male passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Both were injured and were taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
