DANVILLE, VA — The Danville Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a house fire that damaged a home on Augusta Avenue Monday afternoon.

Fire trucks were sent to 46 Augusta Avenue just before 4 p.m. When the first units arrived, firefighters spotted flames  coming from the front and left side windows of the small single-story home. The fire was contained to a front room and quickly extinguished.

The home suffered moderate fire damage to one room and smoke damage throughout.

No one was home when the fire was reported, and the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
