HALIFAX COUNTY, VA — One person died after a pickup truck crashed and overturned in Halifax County Saturday night.

Jason Smith, a 32-year-old construction worker, was driving on Beulah Road when the vehicle ran off the road to the left, overcorrected and flipped over several times.

The crash occurred on a narrow curve on Beulah Road near Sawmill Trail, a short distance from Route 57.

Smith was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the pickup truck. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene.

The crash happened at 9:07 p.m. Saturday.
