DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police are investigating the second homicide in a week after a man was murdered near the Cross Creek Apartments on the Parker Road late Friday.

Police were called to an apartment at 252 Parker Road around 11:20 p.m., where they found a man lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the emergency room of Sovah Health by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Kymon Haley of Milton, North Carolina.

Investigators are seeking a suspect in the shooting death. 29-year-old Rakim La’Tae Knight of Danville is charged with discharging a gun in public causing bodily harm and with using or displaying a firearm in public. Both are felonies.

Knight remains at large. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call Danville Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000. A picture was not available from police at the time of this posting.

Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots before police arrived.
