PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A student brought a gun to the Dan River – G.W. football game Friday night.

The discovery was made after a fight involving two juveniles.

The teenagers, one a student at Dan River and the other from George Washington, got into a physical altercation. Witnesses reported to deputies that one of the juveniles was armed with a small pistol.

The juvenile, a student at Dan River High School, fled into the woods where he was apprehended by sheriff’s deputies. During a search of that area, deputies located a fanny pack that contained a loaded handgun.

Both juveniles were transported to Chatham but were later released to their parents.

The investigation continues with petitions expected to be filed against both juveniles.
