CHATHAM, Va. – U.S. Senator Mark Warner will travel to the Southside Monday afternoon for a pair of appearances.
Warner will host a roundtable with local agricultural producers and farmers at 3 p.m. in Chatham to discuss issues affecting Virginia’s producers.
China announced Friday that it will instate additional retaliatory tariffs starting September 1 in response to President Trump’s plans to impose additional levies on Chinese goods. Warner has been critical of the president’s plan, saying it hurts farmers and small businesses.
Agriculture is the state’s largest industry and the agricultural and forest industries support more than 330,000 jobs in the Commonwealth.
Warner will hold also an informal meet-and-greet with local young professionals at Ballad Brewing Company at 6:00 PM in Danville.
