DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police have charged a man with the theft of more than $8,000 worth of lawn equipment. Officers arrested Dennis Ray Keller Jr. Tuesday and charged him with grand theft.
The investigation began when officers found a stolen utility trailer in the yard of a house on Schoolfield Drive. The trailer contained thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment when it was stolen last week.
Officers executed a search warrant for the home and found stolen lawn equipment, power tools and ATV’s. Officers also seized several firearms and evidence of drug use.
The property was stolen from several locations around Danville and Caswell County. Most of the stolen equipment, including the utility trailer and the ATV’s, were returned to their owners. Investigators are still working to locate owners for the rest of the property.
Keller Jr. was taken to Danville City Jail and held on a $5,000 secured bond.
