CHATHAM, Va. – (WRAL) A Garner couple was killed Monday when their motorcycle crashed in southern Virginia, authorities said.
Donald Lee Butcher, 59, and Carollee Ann Butcher, 57, were northbound on U.S. Highway 29 near Chatham, Va., at about 3:20 p.m. when their 2005 Honda GL 1800 ran off the right side of the highway and struck the guardrail, throwing both riders.
Both riders were wearing helmets but died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Donald Butcher was sales manager at Team Powersports in Garner, which sells used motorcycles and parts.
“Donald has been with Team Powersports since 2007, and through his passion for motorcycles, has touched the lives of thousands of people,” the dealership posted on Facebook. “His dedication to this company and the motorcycle industry are unparalleled. We will remember him as a leader, a mentor, and most importantly, a friend.”
