CHATHAM, Va. – The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a video of a boy being choked on a school bus went viral.
The incident was brought to the attention of the sheriff’s department Monday afternoon and police and school officials are now working to identify other students who may have witnessed the incident.
In the video, the Gretna Middle School student is grabbed by his hoodie and dragged over the back of his seat before being released after landing on the floor of the bus.
WSLS 10 reports that sheriff’s deputies met with the victim and parent, which led to a formal investigation into the choking incident.
Pittsylvania County School officials say the matter is under investigation but it’s too soon to say whether the students involved in the assault will face disciplinary action.
