FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was discovered on the side of the road Thursday afternoon.

The cause of death has yet to be determined but investigators say, at this point, they do not feel the public is in any danger.

The body was found alongside the road about 1:30 p.m. in the 7900 block of Jubal Early Highway. The roadway was closed throughout the day as deputies gathered evidence at the scene.

The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the deceased and is continuing the investigation.
