ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke Police are continuing their search for Michael Brown, the 22-year-old Marine deserter who is wanted for questioning in a Franklin County murder case.
All the Roanoke schools were closed Thursday as police warned people to lock their doors after spotting a camper linked to Brown. Schools will be open Friday.
Roanoke Police Chief Tim Jones said at a news conference that officers got a call about a suspicious person near Patrick Henry High School. The chief said a recreational vehicle Michael Alexander Brown had been driving was found nearby and searched.
A SWAT team converged overnight and the FBI raided the home of Brown’s grandmother on Tillet Road, but the search turned up nothing. A search by ground and air continues.
Brown is wanted for questioning in the death of his mother’s boyfriend, 54-year-old Rodney Brown. Authorities say the Marine deserted his post last month at Camp Lejeune.
