HALIFAX COUNTY, VA. – A Halifax man will serve a 20-year prison term for the August 2018 armed robbery of American National Bank in Centerville.
30-year-old Jeremy Lamar Anderson was earlier convicted on four counts related to the hold-up and was sentenced in Halifax County Circuit Court.
The South Boston News and Record reports that Circuit Judge Kim S. White sentenced Anderson to 50 years but suspended 30 years of the term. He also received six months for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Anderson was arrested by South Boston Police at his home five days after the Aug. 27, 2018 bank robbery. Investigators say he handed the teller a note that said: “Give me all your money or I’ll shoot you in the face.”
Anderson fled with just over $2,200 cash.
