SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – A man hit by a car in South Boston over the weekend was severely injured.

According to the South Boston Police Department, officers found a 38-year-old man lying in the street at the intersection of Broad and Easley Streets Saturday evening. He’d been struck by a car.

The South Boston Fire Department and Halifax County Rescue Squad responded and the man was taken to the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital Emergency Department with serious injuries. He was transferred to Duke University Medical Center.

The driver of the 2006 Toyota 4-door was a 41-year-old Halifax County resident.

No charges have yet been filed, and the case is still being investigated.
