HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – You can add Halifax County to the list of localities that may soon be designated as Second Amendment sanctuaries.
The Halifax County Board of Supervisors will consider the resolution designating the county as a so-called “sanctuary” community at a meeting next month.
Pittsylvania County supervisors approved a similar resolution last week. Appomattox supervisors adopted a similar resolution this month and pledged to fight any effort to “unconstitutionally restrict” the right to bear arms.
The movement is gaining momentum in rural Virginia following sweeping gains by Democrats in the November 5 election and a pledge by Gov. Ralph Northam introduce a series of gun-control measures in January.
