Fieldale, Va. – A pregnant woman who was shot Tuesday night in Henry County has died from her injuries.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Krystal Anne McReynolds of Bassett was transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the face outside a house in Fieldale. Investigators responded to a report of a shooting and found McReynolds lying on the front porch of a home.

The child that she was carrying was lost. On Wednesday night, officials announced that McReynolds also died.

A Fieldale man, 35-year-old Thomas Christopher McDowell, has been arrested and charged in the shooting. He was initially charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Following McReynolds’ death, McDowell was charged with second-degree murder.
