DANVILLE, Va. – A kitchen fire in North Danville forced a Danville family from their home Thursday.

Investigators responded to the Sherwood Drive address just before 4:15 p.m. and found light smoke showing from the front door. The fire was traced to the kitchen and started in some unattended cooking.

Crews made quick work of the fire but the house suffered moderate damage.

The homeowners will not be able to stay in the house until repairs are made and will be staying with family members.
