DANVILLE, Va. – A Monday morning house fire on North Main Street has been ruled arson, according to the Danville Fire Department.

Crews responded to the 14-hundred block of lNorth Main Street at 7:16 yesterday morning. They found the front of the frame house fully involved. The lone occupant had escaped through the back door and was uninjured but the single-story house was destroyed.

The fire marshal determined that the fire was set intentionally and spread quickly from the front porch to the interior of the home and up through the attic.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire in 15 minutes but crews were on the scene for several hours.

The American Red Cross is assisting the resident.
