DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Sheriff’s Office has announced restrictions to protect inmates and staff from the coronavirus and to limit possible exposures.
Effective immediately, the jail is suspending all in-person visitations at the jail. Each inmate will be offered one free video call each week during the suspension.
The jail will also suspend weekend and delayed sentences until April 25th.
Group programs will also be suspended at the jail.
Sheriff Mike Mondul said the steps are necessary given the uncertainty of the situation.
Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones has also decided to cancel the Tuesday, March 17, City Council meeting. All items on this agenda will be placed on the April 7 agenda.
