DANVILLE, Va. – The Danville Fire Department responded Friday morning to a fire alarm at Unarco Industries at 255 Stinson Drive.
An engine and a ladder truck arrived just after 8 a.m. and firefighters found a piece of machinery on fire inside the building. The fire was extinguished and contained to the machine. There was no damage to the building. Firefighters and Unarco maintenance spent the next hour clearing the smoke so workers could return to their jobs.
Materials inside the machine caught fire during maintenance of the equipment. A sprinkler head above the machine helped control the fire until it could be put out.
