PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A Pittsylvania County man has been confirmed as Virginia’s 10th death due to the coronavirus.

Landon Spradlin was returning from New Orleans last week when he collapsed at a gas station in Concord, North Carolina.

Spradlin, an accomplished blues guitarist and street preacher, was taken to a hospital in North Carolina, where family members say he was diagnosed with double pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19.

His wife, Jean, was traveling with him at the time.

Spradlin died just before 4:30 Wednesday morning in a North Carolina hospital where he was undergoing treatment. He was 66.
