SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – The YMCA of South Boston and Halifax County is helping feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Y” is partnering with the Halifax County Public School system to distribute food and ensure that no child goes hungry during the school shutdown.
The agencies are collecting and distributing food to those unable to leave their homes or without transportation. If you need assistance, call (434) 288-0011 between 8 am and 6 pm and leave your contact information. Arrangements will be made to have food delivered promptly.
Donations are also being accepted at the YMCA offices at 650 Hamilton Boulevard in South Boston, Va. Volunteers will be on hand to collect food items.
The groups are looking for pop top canned foods, granola bars, small juices, oatmeal packets, cups of mac and cheese, fruit cups, Nabs and other snacks, peanut butter, crackers, pop tarts, canned vegetables, and pull tab ravioli and pork and beans.
