DANVILLE, Va. – Flames gutted a vacant home in Danville overnight and investigators say the fire appears to have been set deliberately.
Crews responded to 157 Wood Avenue at around 6:30 and found flames coming from the rear of the small frame house. A ladder truck was brought in to battle the blaze and firefighters had the flames knocked down in two hours. The house sustained major damage and was condemned.
The building was vacant at the time and there were no injuries.
The fire marshal investigated and determined the cause to be “incendiary.” Firefighters were on the scene for about four hours.
