GLADE HILL, Va. – A vehicle has been recovered from Smith Mountain Lake with two bodies inside and police say the car matches the description of a vehicle involved in a missing persons case in Buena Vista and Rockbridge County.

The discovery was made in the Glade Hill area near Webster Road and Crafts Church Road. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, crews pulled a blue Ford Explorer from the lake about 8:30 Saturday night and found two bodies inside.

Both bodies have been sent to the state medical examiner for autopsy and to determine the manner of death.

According to WDBJ, Jacquelyn “Bridgett” Clark and Mary “Becky” Williams have been missing almost a week. The two women were believed to be heading to Smith Mountain Lake from Buena Vista when they disappeared.

Sheriff’s deputies are continuing their investigation.
