FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – Authorities have identified the bodies recovered from Smith Mountain Lake as those of two women who had been missing for almost a week.

The Franklin County Sheriff’ Office confirms that the bodies have been positively identified as 42-year-old Jacquelyn “Bridgett” Clark of Buena Vista and 40-year-old Mary “Becky” Williams of Rockbridge County. The pair was reported missing after they failed to arrive at a home in the Webster Road area of Glade Hill in Franklin County on Sunday, April 19.

A blue Ford explorer was pulled from the lake Saturday evening and the bodies were found inside.

The bodies were taken to the state medical examiner to determine causes of death.
