DANVILLE, Va. – There were no injuries in a morning house fire in north Danville. Crews responded to a house fire on Clement Ave. at Claiborne Street just after 2:30 Wednesday morning and found a small, single-story house with heavy smoke coming from the front of the home.
All occupants were outside of the home when firefighters arrived.
Responding crews found the fire in the kitchen and were able to douse the flames quickly. The kitchen sustained heavy fire damage, with the rest of the house sustaining moderate heat, smoke and water damage.
The fire marshal’s office investigated and determined the blaze started on the stove in some unattended cooking.
Occupants of the home will be staying with family members.
