DANVILLE, Va. – Caesars Entertainment of Nevada has been selected by the city of Danville as its preferred casino gaming operator, if Danville voters approve the project in a November referendum.

Mayor Alonzo Jones says the developers would pump more than $400 million into the resort, which would include restaurants, up to 500 hotel rooms, a 2,500 seat entertainment complex,  a 35,000 square foot conference center, and a complete gamily facility with slots, gaming tables and poker tables.

Del. Danny Marshall said the project – as proposed – represents the largest capital investment in Danville in more than ten years.

Jones said the project would generate 900 construction jobs, and 1,300 permanent positions paying an average annual salary of $35,000 to $47,000, along with “a competitive benefits package.” He said the city of Danville received several bids for the resort complex but called Caesars’ “the best for our community.”

The city of Danville expects to receive $35 million in new annual revenue from gaming taxes and supplemental payments, depending on gaming revenue. About $4 million in direct additional annual taxes is projected.

If approved by voters, the project is expected to be complete by 2023.
