HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a plane crash near South Boston.
Authorities responded to the William M. Tuck Airport in Halifax County on Tuesday after a small plane made a rough landing. According to state police, the Piper Commanche experienced engine trouble as the pilot was coming in for a landing. The plane ended up landing on its belly in an airport field just before 2:34 Tuesday afternoon.
The pilot, Robert Overstreet of Clarksville, Va., was the only occupant and was not injured in the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and will investigate.
