FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the Virgil Goode Highway Wednesday.

Investigators say the shooting was not related to a peaceful protest that took place earlier in the day in Rocky Mount.

No information on the condition of the victim was available but police said there is no threat to the public.

The shooting remains under investigation.
