Update:  Officials in Henry County have changed from a shooting investigation to a death investigation after an incident at the Dollar General on Stones Dairy Road in Bassett Monday.  The female victim in the incident has died.  The victim Adrianne Ruth Martin, 37, of Snow Creek was pronounced Dead at SOVAH Health Martinsville.  When deputies arrived they found Martin in the parking lot with citizens performing CPR on her.

In the Press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s office the medical examiner’s office has determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and the manner of death is pending the conclusion of the investigation.

No arrests have been made at this point but authorities are asking for the public’s help if you have any knowledge of the situation please call the Henry County Sheriff’s office.

(Bassett, VA) – Henry County Sherriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General on Stones Dairy Road for reports of a shooting Monday afternoon.  Upon arrival they found a single female victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a local hospital, her condition or name were not released.

Crime scene technicians were analyzing the scene including taking photos of a blue Honda SUV in the parking on the side of the store.  While authorities have not named a suspect in the ongoing investigation, they say there is no on going threat to the community.

Dollar General Management chose to close the store for the remainder of the day.
