GRETNA, Va. – Virginia State Police say charges are pending after a driver crashed his car into a house in the northern end of Pittsylvania County.
State police said a 2005 Cadillac STS was headed south on Rockford School Road when the driver ran off the left side of the road, hit a mailbox and then struck the front porch of the home. It happened around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon in Gretna.
The driver, Robert Withers, III, 69, of Gretna was taken to Centra Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Withers was wearing a seat belt.
Damage to the home was minimal. The owner and his wife were inside the house at the time but were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
