DANVILLE, Va. – A third person has died from the coronavirus in Danville.
The Virginia Department of Health listed the latest death in its daily update Monday. The death count in Pittsylvania-Danville stands at five.
The Pittsylvania-Danville Health District also reported 87 new cases of COVID-19 between Friday and Sunday, making the district one of ten in the state experiencing an increase in reported cases.
428 COVID-19 cases have now been confirmed in the Danville district. The number of hospitalized patients also increased over the weekend, with 56 in the hospital in Danville and Pittsylvania County.
There have been 2,031 deaths in Virginia from the virus. 78,375 coronavirus cases have been reported statewide.
