(Danville, VA) – A pair of boaters had a quite trip down the Dan River Sunday afternoon. Just before 6pm authorities received a call for a boat that had lost power. The boats motor seized and while there was an anchor onboard but it didn’t hold when deployed. The vessel was adrift in the river which was up due to weekend storms and was carried downstream. The pair were able to reach the bank and tie off to a tree until crews arrived.
Units from the Caswell County Emergency Management team, the Danville Fire Department, as well as the Danville Life Saving Crew’s swift water rescue team located the vessel and returned it safely to a command post that was established at Angler’s Park. There were no injuries in the incident.
