DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police are investigating a fatal accident that happened Thursday around 7:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Road.

A white 2001 Honda Civic driven by 65-year-old Wilda S. Clear of Danville pulled into southbound lanes of Piney Forest Road from Ash Street.  Her car was hit on the driver’s side by a 2017 silver Honda Accord that was traveling southbound on Piney Forest Road.

The Danville Lifesaving Crew transported Clear to the hospital where she later died. The driver of the 2017 Honda Accord sustained serious injuries was also transported to the hospital. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Both lanes of travel were reduced to one lane each for several hours after the crash.
