MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A Martinsville woman who was beaten after a neighbor forced his way into her apartment has died. The Martinsville Bulletin says two friends of the victim confirmed the death and identified the victim Cindra Martin.

Police earlier arrested 48-year-old Randy Jurden Largen and charged him with breaking and entering with the intent to commit assault and aggravated malicious wounding. Largen continues to be held without bond in the Martinsville City Jail.

Police Chief Rob Fincher said earlier that the 911 communications center received a hang-up call from 900 Rives Road just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 30. Officers were en route to the residence when they were flagged down by a woman in a car who identified herself as the person who had made the call. The woman was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Friends of the victim told the newspaper Martin managed to escape from her attacker but died from her injuries on Tuesday.
