HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – A Danville teen was killed in a Sunday afternoon wreck in the Turbeville area of Halifax County.
Virginia State Police say 18-year-old Kolby Singleton of Danville died at the scene of the wreck. The 18-year-old driver was airlifted from the scene to Duke Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Singleton was a passenger in the car, which ran off the road on U.S. 58, striking a tree in the median. The vehicle was cut in half and both occupants were ejected.
The driver, Jamel Faulkner of South Boston, suffered internal injuries and underwent surgery at Duke.
Neither was wearing a seat belt. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The vehicle was eastbound heading toward South Boston at the time of the wreck, which happened about 3:25 Sunday afternoon.
The state police accident reconstruction team is assisting in the investigation.
