DANVILLE, Va. – There were no injuries in a fire that damaged several apartments at 141 New Ingram Road.
The Danville Fire Department responded to the call around 11:20 Wednesday night after the 911 Center received reports of smoke in several apartments. Firefighters found light smoke in the common hallway of the multi-unit apartment building.
Two of the occupants were in separate apartments and had limited mobility. Crews located both and moved them to safety. Everyone else had evacuated.
The smoke was traced to be a stove fire in a lower level apartment.
Crews were on the scene for about three hours checking for any hidden fire and venting smoke from the building before tenants were allowed to return to their apartments.
19 firefighters responded, along with four engines and a ladder truck.
No injuries were reported and damage to the building was moderate.
