DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul is reporting more cases of COVID-19 at the city jail.
Results of tests taken Tuesday show there have been 72 positive cases and 21 negative cases. Mondul said 20 inmates refused to be tested.
Mondul said about a dozen staff members have been tested, including himself. To date, one employee has tested positive for the coronavirus.
There are 117 test results pending, including most of the staff tests. Mondul said those results are expected shortly.
The jail population has fluctuated between 255 last Wednesday to 252 on Tuesday, which Mondul said is normal.
