DANVILLE, Va. – There were no injuries in an early morning fire that destroyed a home off Riverside Drive.
Danville Firefighters were called to 530 Church Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. On arrival, they found flames shooting from the roof of the one-story, brick structure.
The occupant and his dog were not home at the time and there were no injuries.
Because of the intensity of the fire, crews mounted an exterior attack and were still working to bring the flames under control an hour later. The house was destroyed and collapsed as a ladder truck pumped water onto the inferno.
Fire investigators will have to wait until it’s safe to enter as they work to determine a cause.
Three engines and a ladder truck responded.
Firefighters remained on the scene through late morning.
