DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones has resigned as head of maintenance and operations for Danville Public Schools. That’s according to a report in the Chatham Star Tribune, which said his departure came on Wednesday.

A DPS spokeswoman confirmed Jones’ resignation to the newspaper but declined to comment since this is a personnel matter.

His resignation leaves DPS without a maintenance director as the system implements new procedures to deal with the pandemic as students begin returning to the classroom next month.
