DANVILLE, Va. – Danville Police have filed charges following an assault on a 15-passenger van but say the attack was not related to the election.

Danville police responded to a disturbance at Henry and North Main Streets about 1:30 p.m.

Police said an argument on a van escalated into a fight, which ended with one passenger cutting another. The attacker fled on foot  and was arrested shortly after in the 100 block of East Thomas Street.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the attack did not involve the voting precinct or voters at the Salvation Army on Henry Street.

According to authorities, the victim and suspect know each other and the assault was not related to any Election Day activities.
