The Danville Police Department has issued a statement with regards to this incident.

Just after midnight officers located a 36 year old man suffering from multiple gun shot wounds in the 1600 block of North Main Street. He was transported to SOVAH Health then airlifted to Duke University Hospital where he is currently listed in serious condition.

The shooting itself happened in the 200 block of Bradley Road.  Both the shooter and victim knew one another so this is being considered an isolated incident. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.  The shooters name has been determined but will remain confidential until such time as deemed appropriate for release.

(Danville, VA) – Danville Police are investigating a shooting that occurred just after 12:30 Friday Morning.

Officers found one individual in an area around the 1600 block North Main Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  That individual who has not been identified was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators were working multiple scenes in a wide spread area including the area south of George’s Market on North Main Street where the shooting was believed to have occurred.

The investigation is ongoing and we will have more updates as they become available.
