DANVIILLE, Va. – A fire at the Red Carpet Inn in Danville caused considerable damage to one unit but there were no reports of injuries.

At about 10:40 Sunday morning, Danville firefighters responded to the 1900 block Piney Forest following a report of a structure fire at the motel.  On arrival, crews from Engine 5 reported heavy fire coming from an apartment on the upper level. Units from three stations responded, along with a ladder truck, police and the Danville Lifesaving Crew.

The fire was knocked down quickly and firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the adjoining apartments.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
