Fieldale, Va. – Henry County authorities are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead of gunshot wounds in a field. The body was discovered in the field next to 977 John Baker Road in the town of Fieldale.

Detectives say it appears he sustained “multiple” gunshot wounds. They do not know how long the body had been at the location.

Authorities have yet to identify the body but say it is that of a Black male, wearing a gray tee-shirt, gray pants and black boots.

The body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia for identification and an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
