DANVILLE, Va. – A Wednesday night fire destroyed the main building at Danville Tree Care.
The Danville Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 1340 Goodyear Blvd. When the first units arrived just before 8:30 p.m., flames were visible from a distance.
Heavy fire was coming through the roof of a 30′ x 70′ single-story building, which is in a fenced in area just off Industrial Ave. Due to the extent of the flames, crews fought the fire from outside the building with a ladder truck. Hand lines were used to put out spot fires around the building.
16 firefighters remained on scene for a little over two hours. During that time, Goodyear Blvd. was closed from Industrial Ave. to the Danville Expressway.
The building and contents were a total loss. The fire marshal will investigate the cause.
There were no injuries and no equipment outside the building was damaged by the fire.
